So now that I have finished the book, I can safely say that I knew most of the information and facts inside the book. I have a bit of education pertaining to the corruption in the food industry. I know that the food industry has only profits in mind, not the health of the people they are feeding.
The chapter about the soy products was interesting, I knew that it was heavily GMO'd, but I did not know that 97% of the world soy crop was GMO'd. Thats a lot of soy...
Overall good book, with good information in it. I would recommend the book to anyone wishing to know more about what is in their meat. For anyone that is thinking about kicking the habit of eating meat. For whatever reason. May it be buycotting or boycotting.

Political Cartoon - December 1st
This political cartoon is relevant to the upcoming 2015 election. The liberals which as it looks now, are the main opposition, at least as the media is portraying it. The liberals are going to take the polarizing view on many of the issues that the conservatives have. This is a strategy to take the voters that also polarize against the conservative party.

Political Cartoon - November 24th 2014
This is relevant because america just refused to build the keystone pipeline. Which is cool because I believe the environment needs to come first. This comic is funny because we all know that peace in the middle east is far from becoming a reality.

No Happy Cows - November 17th 2014
This is an interesting read especially for those considering giving up meat or dairy in the future. I am already a vegan, I've been off dairy and meat for some time now. I know a lot of the stuff that I am reading such as the amounts of antibiotics that they are injecting into the cows which in turn ends up in our meat and dairy. The people of the world are consuming these products and then acting surprised when they get sick from all the chemicals found in our food. I find it alarming that the companies that are raising the cows in this way are and have got away with this for so long. Then again, the book talks about how the companies are using the vast quantities of dollars to suppress legislation to make the companies more accountable for their actions.
Political Cartoon - November 17
Steven Harper told Vladmir Putin to get out of Ukraine to which Putin replied "We're not in Ukraine". Bit of a showdown going on between the two political leaders. I am interested to see what the next development in this story will be.

The right to petition the Canadian government through the Office of Commissioner of Environment and Sustainable development
It seems that there has been a large amount of people form different geographic locations that have petitioned against Harpers initiatives pertaining to the environment. While the right is there, the amount of attention payed to the people doing the petitioning is low. There seems to be an issue with the "group" that is petitioning. Since the people aren't petitioning "together" there is not much of an impact being made.

Gerald Gloade has a fascinating story that is reflected in his art and his literature. He writes and paints about his struggles as well as his overcoming of physical limitations. He was born with a hole in his heart and was raised by his grandmother. She instilled art into his life from a very early age and its been with him ever since. He knows a great deal about his culture and his heritage with the mikmaq people in Nova Scotia. He knows of events, legends and stories that date back to 13000 years ago. He has a lot of valuable knowledge and is a very interesting person especially because makes such beautiful art.
Political Cartoon - November 9th 2014
This political cartoon is playing on the upcoming election. The conservatives are going into election mode which means they are going to make a large amount of faulty promises. They are going to avoid questions pertaining to the events and things "Behind the Curtain"

I have decided to show a video. This video does a better job of explaining what environmental racism is better than anything I have found before. It was very informative.

The political cartoon seen here (No Picture was able to be provided) is a beautiful depiction of police brutality. The police would love for the media to stay out of their face while they brutalize often time innocent citizens. Quite simply, the media is one of the only factors that is preventing the police force form committing its atrocities.

The world in 2050 - October 20th
After reading the first two chapters in this book. I realize several things the author has done that really has shaped the way the book is going to turn out.
He has a list of things he assumes isn't going to happen. One of which is the 3rd world war which arguably is happening right this very moment.
The author assumes that there are no "spectacular" technological discoveries and nothing world altering happens. This will still prove to be an interesting perspective on what the world MIGHT be like in 2050 however I think most people would agree that the reality we live in is filled with unpredictable events.
I dont think anyone without insider knowledge of 9/11 could have predicted 9/11. I don't think anyone with or without insider knowledge of 9/11 could have predicted how that event would change the way the world operates. Often times the modern reality we live in is referred to as "post 9/11". This is because of the drastic changes that took place after 9/11. Fear became the governing factor in North America.

The Winter We Danced - October 6th
Pictures - I looked through the art that is in the middle of the book and some of the paintings really spoke to my taste in colour and symbology. I really enjoyed the picture on page 252 with Stephen harper saying "Trick or Treaty". It really illustrates how Stephen Harper is just playing games with the native Canadians. Stephen Harper really does not care about the wishes and opinions of native Canadian, otherwise he wouldn't have passed C-45.
Beautiful art on page 246. I like to imagine that the world looks like this through a special lens. The waves and vibrations of nature are depicted in vibrant colour and the picture felt very calm and tranquil to me, which is the feeling I get when I am among nature.
On Page 277 - This poem was written in a Native Canadian dialect and below it is the english translation. I have read several times in Indian Horse that the white man language is very hoarse and rough where as the Native language is the language of the wind and trees, smooth and flowing like the rivers. I went through the poem and attempted to annunciate the words on the page. I enjoyed this activity and got a sense for what they were saying about the flowing of the language.

Political Cartoon - Oct 6th
The political cartoon displays the disparity between the canadian military and the american military. The cartoon makes the analogy that our technology is in the medieval ages in comparison to the american technology. Plus Stephen Harper looks absolutely ridiculous in this cartoon depiction.

On this page, there is a good video showing how native canadians are spending their day. All across the province, many people are getting together and protesting the injustices taking place on their land and in the bay of fundy. It showed people marching in halifax as well as in Indian brook and Im sure many other places in Nova Scotia.

I think this is a fantastic resource for activists who centre their attention around the environment. I see that they had a page for the New York G20 rally, The Pacific Climate war, the keystone pipeline and articles on global power shift. I can see myself using this website when I move to a city so that I can participate in events that I believe in.

The Winter we Danced - Sept 28
I am enjoying how many different perspectives are a part of the book. I'm reading a lot of stories directly from people who experienced the events first hand. It astonishes me how much racism is still happening here in Canada. The general perception of Canada throughout the world, at least after the 2nd world war is that Canada is a shining beacon of what a country should be. Canada has these dark chapters in its past that no one talks about because its shamefull. I am glad we are beginning the widespread dialogue on this matter.

Comic Strip - September 28/14
I thought this comic strip was funny because it draws attention to two things in a clever way.
1 : The members of parliament all know how bad an audit would be so they.
2 : They all agree that an audit would be bad, which is ironic because they never agree on anything.

The Winter We Danced - Sept 22
After Skimming and reading some entries in The Winter We Danced I can say that I am thrilled to have this unique perspective on the nature of this events covered in this book. These events have a large impact on my identity as a Canadian. I will have more to say when I have read more exerts in the book.
Comic Strip - Sept 22
Funny Comic.
It shows how much attention was not given to the bill C-45. Harper passed it without much of a problem. I find it problematic that the people of Canada
A : werent aware of this bill
B : Did not stand up to stop it (Me as guilty as the next)
Research Quest - Sept 22

Ian Mosby researched the very true events that happened in Canadian History. There is evidence that the government of Canada conducted experiments in the area of Nutrition on Aboriginal Canadians. This raises many questions on the way that we as Canadian treat each other. To this say there is still a lot of racism and inequality. Every so often in the news we hear of the mistreatment of certain groups of people within Canada, Aboriginal Canadians in particular. The Oka incident, Idle no More and the recent visit from the UN Minister has shed light on the magnitude of the problem.

Indian Horse - 1
I think I am going to like reading the book Indian Horse. In the first chapter, it iterates over several of the values and core beliefs I hold. I am looking forward to hearing more about his family's culture and beliefs prior to the involvement of the white men. I really enjoy listening and exploring ideas regarding personification of the environment itself. I am very interested in learning more about the medicines and healing methods they used. This book grabbed my attention from the get-go and I am more than happy to continue reading it.
Assignment 1
So, I thought I would talk about the news today. America is going to war with Iraq, again. Deja Vu anyone? I thought America did that already, it went poorly if I remember correctly. I think it is time that America do something productive with its military and go to war with the international cooperations and bankers...who happen to be financing the war. This looks like its going to turn into another excuse to increase the US military budget to a whopping 756.4 Billion dollars FY(2015).
